Eloise Egan, American. (1874 - 1967).
Eloise Egan was a widely exhibited painter in New York City, including the Salons of America,
(1934, 1936), the National Academy of Design, (1936-1942), the Society of Independent Artists,
(1937, 1939), and a solo exhibition at Durand-Ruel in 1940. Eloise Egan studied in New York
with G. E. Browne, George Luks and Wayman Adams.
She divided most of her time between studios in St. Paul, France and the US. While in France,
Egan exhibited at the Salon d'Automne (1931) a similar scene, Concarneau. The exhibition label
attached suggest that this painting was exhibited at the National Academy Galleries in NYC while
Eloise Egan was a member of the Allied Artists of America. She also was a member of the National
Association of Women Artists and the Silvermine Guild of Artists in New Canaan, CT. Her works are
included in the Collection of the Georgia Museum of Art, Athens, GA.
