Albertus E. Jones, American, (1882-1957)
Albertus Jones lived in South Windsor and Hamburg Cove, Connecticut. He was a highly regarded
landscape painter and WPA artist who studied with Charles Noel Flagg at the Connecticut League
of Art Students. Jones himself was a teacher at the Randall School and The School For Creative Work,
both in Hartford, CT. Albertus Jones exhibited and received prizes at The CAFA shows beginning
in 1912 and lasting through 1934. Jones also exhibited at the Bridgeport Art League in 1944,
The New Haven Paint and Clay Club in 1945, and at The Wadsworth Athenaeum in Hartford in 1939.
Works by Albertus Jones are held in the collections of The Wadsworth Athenaeum Museum of Art and
The Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, CT.
